Malabuyoc is a 5th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is bounded on the north by municipality of Alegria, on the south by municipality of Ginatilan, on the east by municipality of Boljoon and on the west by Tañon Strait.
A most popular legend tells that that once Malabuyoc grew plenty of fruit trees like mangoes, lanzones, cacaos and others. The heavy weight of fruits causes the branches of trees bent heavily down (“buyoc”) in Bisaya. On account of this usual sight, the place came to be called “Buyoc”.
Malabuyoc’s main industries are agriculture and fruit bearing trees.

Malabuyoc is situated in the southwestern coast of the island of Cebu and is about 126 kilometers from Cebu City. The municipality is bounded on the north by municipality of Alegria, on the south by municipality of Ginatilan, on the east by municipality of Boljoon and on the west by Tañon Strait.
Malabuyoc can be reached by public buses or V-Hires (vans) from the Cebu South Terminal in Cebu City. Estimated travel time is about 3 hours.

Malabuyoc is composed of 14 barangays, namely: Armeña (Cansilongan), Tolosa (Calatagan), Cerdeña (Ansan), Labrador (Bulod), Looc, Lombo, Mahanlud, Mindanao (Pajo), Montañeza (Inamlang), Salmeron (Bulak), Santo Niño, Sorsogon (Balimaya), Barangay I (Pob.) and Barangay II (Pob.).
According to the 2000 census, Malabuyoc has a population of 17,015 people in 3,092 households.
