Ginatilan is a 5th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is bounded on the north by municipality of Samboan, on the south by municipality of Malabuyoc, on the east by municipality of Oslob and on the west by Tañon Strait.
Ginatilan was once a barrio of the Municipality of Samboan. The place got its name from the word “Hinatdan” due to the frequent bringing of necessary things needed in the celebration of the mass, so the place was called “Hinatdan” and was later changed to “Ginatilan” since the Spanish Officials Found it hard to pronounce the word “Hinatdan”.
Ginatilan’s main industries are agriculture and livestock.

Ginatilan is situated in the southwestern coast of the island of Cebu and is about 135 kilometers from Cebu City. The municipality is bounded on the north by municipality of Samboan, on the south by municipality of Malabuyoc, on the east by municipality of Oslob and on the west by Tañon Strait.
Ginatilan can be reached by public buses or V-Hires (vans) from the Cebu South Terminal in Cebu City. Estimated travel time is about 3 hours.

Ginatilan is composed of 14 barangays, namely: Anao, Cagsing, Calabawan, Cambagte, Campisong, Canorong, Guiwanon, Looc, Malatbo, Mangaco, Palanas, Poblacion, Salamanca and San Roque.
According to the 2000 census, Ginatilan has a population of 14,073 people in 2,676 households.

It was very unfortunate when we came to Anao because it was very slippery and the motor bike can’t go to Anao.. We fell down, so we decided to walked.. It was the ugliest road I’ve ever seen…
i’m planning to go back and i was asking somebody if the road now is ok but they answered that: Still in progress..
So, thanks to the mayor of Ginatilan,. Mayor Dean Singco.. I hope you will continue to repair the road until Anao…
