Sinulog, Syagit ug Kusog! Pit Senyor! Pit Senyor! Tanan magsaulog! (Sinulog, shout out loud! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let’s all celebrate)
The Sinulog Festival, Cebu’s largest annual event, is one of the most colorful festivals in Asia today. It is celebrated for nine days with two major activities as highlights –a religious procession on Saturday and grand street parade the next day. It got its name from a ritual dance in honor of the miraculous image of the Santo Niño.
Sinulog 2009 is near and everyone is excited about the country’s largest and grandest festival that is sure to surprise everyone as it goes to the next level next year. Here is the tentative schedule of activities for the event everyone is waiting for.
December 01, 2008 to January 31, 2009 - Sinulog Street Fair - Osmeña Boulevard
- January 3 to 31, 2009 -Sinulog Photo Exhibits featuring 2008 Sinulog Photo
Winners (2nd Level, Northwing, SM City Cebu) - January 3 to 31, 2009 - Sto. Niño Exhibits (SM City Cebu Art Center)
- January 9 to 19, 2009 - Dancing Pilgrims: Sinanduloy of Tangub City: Exhibit of Tangub City dancers from past to present (SM City Cebu)
January 8, 2009 (Thursday) - Opening Salvo: Walk with Jesus
- 4am - Assembly Time (Fuente Osmeña)
- 4:30am - Start of Walk (from Fuente Osmeña to Basilica del Sto. Niño)
- 5:30am - Installation of Hermano & Hermana Mayores 2009
Foreign groups may join Sinulog 2009
