SM City Cebu joins Earth Hour, saves electricity
SM City Cebu switched off 100 percent of the lights of their logo, dropdown banners, photo billboards, landscapes, and advertising boses, as well as tenant signages.
It also switched off fifty percent of the lights of the covered and parking areas, terminal, lobby lights, and hallways.

A recorded countdown which was heard all over the mall signaled the beginning of the Earth Hour from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This was also the signal of the mall tenants to switch off some of their lights and signages. During the Earth Hour, normal operations of the mall was still followed.
More than 200 security guards in the main mall, Northwing, carpark, and perimeter fences were also instructed by the management to be more vigilant to prevent untoward incidents.
Management noted a 2.5 percent savings of the total consumption during the one-hour that the lights were switched off, or 2.5 percent savings of the total consumption on a daily basis.
SM Supermalls participated in the Earth Hour to promote electricity conservation and lower carbon emission.
The World Wildlife Fund launched the Earth Hour in Sydney, Australia last year.
The group encouraged business establishments and households to switch off lights for one hour to save energy consumption.
