OBRA Negosyo Expo and Countryside Enterprise and Business Upliftment or “ONE CEBU” has been formally launched at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) with an overwhelming support from local business groups.
Local government units from different parts of the province also participated in the expo to showcase products made in their localities.
The program started with a mass officiated by Ricardo Cardinal Vidal at the plenary hall of the CICC.
The Cardinal made a tour at the booths at the convention center, where high-class furniture and fashion jewelry from the export sector were also on display.
Together with Enrison Benedicto, the chairman of One Cebu, they also visited the different booths of towns and cities that joined the exhibit.
The exhibit will run until August 15, 2008, and the public is welcome to visit the CICC.
“All of the products are given a venue to be showcased for visitors to know the best of Cebu,” said Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Local officials from neighboring islands, as well as members of their chambers of commerce, have visited the expo.
Even hotels have their own booths so that they can invite tourists to visit them.
The governor said that before, each chamber appeared to have been working on its own while now, all groups have come together to showcase the best of Cebu.
The exhibit will be held annually and there are plans to raise it to an international level.
