FOR the first time since he engaged Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and Lahug Barangay Captain Mary Ann de los Santos in a verbal war, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña shared the stage with the two leaders yesterday.
De los Santos and Garcia were at the awarding ceremony at the Cebu Sports Center to receive the prices and trophies for their respective contingents.

Many personalities from the field of politics, sports, and show business joined the Sinulog grand parade, which was celebrated yesterday (Sunday) here at Cebu City.
Among the many personalities who came to join and witness Sinulog 2008 are Senator Mar Roxas; International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization flyweight champion Nonito Donaire; the PBB Celebrity Edition 2 stars; Palos main casts Cesar Montano and Jake Cuenca; Anne Curtis; Sam Milby; Dennis Padilla; Melanie Marquez; and Angelica Panganiban.

Here are photos of the winners of the Free Interpretation category.
Lumad Basakanon won the 1st prize for this year’s Sinulog Free Interpretation category.
They were followed by the municipality of Carmen, Alikaraw Organization of Hilongos, Leyte, Tribu Iliganon of Iligan City, and Tribu Pintaflores of San Carlos City.
The awarding of winners of the 2008 Sinulog Grand Parade was held on Monday (January 21) at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The Sinanduloy Tribe of Tangub City emerged as 1st prize winner in this year’s Street Dancing category.
Other placers include Lumad Basakanon (2nd prize) and the municipality of Carmen (3rd prize).
The awarding of winners was held Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña awarded the Sinulog winners.

Alcoy Siloy Festival wins the top prize in this year’s Sinulog Based category.
They also emerged champions of the 2008 Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan.
Other winners of the Sinulog Based category are: Sinanduloy Dance Troupe (2nd); Pakol Festival of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental (3rd); Barangay Lahug (4th); Silaw Culture and Arts from Carcar City (5th).
Awarding of winners was held Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

A NUMBER straight out of Las Vegas, a friendly kiss, celebrity sightings: these were some of the scenes that entertained a crowd of some 30,000 at the Cebu City Sports Center grandstand.
Add 15 dancing contingents in eye-popping costumes, and the grandstand crowd, as well as thousands more out in the streets or watching the telecast at home, had quite a visual treat.

Basak, Alcoy dancers win top prizes - Sinulog 2008

MANY contingents mimicked their dance steps and costumes, to the minutest detail, but the Lumad Basakanon of Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City outperformed them with its flawless execution.
With only a slight change in costume and movements from last year’s number, it won its second straight crown in the Sinulog grand parade’s free interpretation (FI) category and the top purse of P500,000.

International Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated (IPI)’s float was one of the most applauded among the 39 floats that participated in the 2008 Sinulog Grand Parade
The float features a jungle full of animals with the Sto. Niño image watching over them.
