Ayala Center Cebu’s Leisure Oasis

April 1, 2008 by CebuDaily admin

Competition between Cebu’s two premier malls, Ayala Center Cebu and SM City Cebu, is getting stiffer, tighter and more exciting as Ayala Center Cebu will soon unveil its Leisure Oasis. The name sounds nice, but there is something deeper in it. What’s in a name? Well, a name is one’s identity so it has to be meaningful. And what meaning does Leisure Oasis possess?

I grabbed a dictionary and checked:
Leisure - relaxation, recreation, unhurried ease
Oasis - something serving as a refuge, relief, or pleasant change from what is usual, annoying, difficult, etc.

The Leisure Oasis is Ayala Center Cebu’s answer to the recently opened Northwing of SM City Cebu, which is currently being dubbed as the “Ultimate Lifestyle Center of Cebu”. The Leisure Oasis is nearing completion and it looks promising. Who will emerge as the ultimate winner, Ayala or SM? The answer is neither. It is the Cebuano people and the general public who will arise victorious as more choices are made available therefore elevating the lifestyle experience here in Cebu. As a result, Cebu’s shopping scene is brought to a whole new level.

For those who aren’t aware, the Leisure Oasis is what was the old lagoon of Ayala Center Cebu. It is being rejuvenated and redeveloped since 2006 and it is expected to open within the second half of 2008. Chic and ambience-driven dining and leisure outlets will provide a wide variety of options from casual cafes to fine dining restaurants. The carefully selected mix will be a balance of popular local and Manila-based restaurants. A number of lifestyle stores (including health, fitness and recreation outlets) will also be opened within this location.

According to Cebu Holdings, Inc., an affiliate of Ayala Land who owns and operates the mall, the completion of the Leisure Oasis will make Ayala Center Cebu the ultimate icon of style in Cebu and a landmark of unsurpassed shopping and dining experience. (Is it just me or is the word “ULTIMATE” being overused these days?)

Anyway, here is an artist’s rendition of the Ayala Center Cebu Leisure Oasis once it is completed
